Swallowing dysfunction

Difficulty swallowing solids or liquids can include pain with swallowing, difficulty with the passage of food or drink or coughing and choking sensations with swallowing. Techniques to evaluate swallowing disorders include flexible telescope evaluation of the top of the swallowing tube and voice box, barium swallow study and other imaging modalities. The physician will determine what testing is appropriate after and thorough evaluation of the patient is performed.
